No Starting QB is named Yet?

FAYETTEVILLE -- University of Arkansas Coach Chad Morris and offensive coordinator Joe Craddock have given away no hints in the last few days as to who will start at quarterback against Portland State on Aug. 31.
Transfers Ben Hicks and Nick Starkel remain the top contenders, with redshirt freshman John Stephen Jones a potential, though unlikely, wild card.
Morris had media sessions Tuesday and Thursday, while Craddock spoke Wednesday. The latest update, via Morris, is that there is no decision.

Jaylin Williams commits to Arkansas

Jaylin Williams  has committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks. The 6-9, 230-pound forward/center from Fort Smith (Ark.) Northside went public with a commitment video that was released via Instagram on Saturday afternoon, becoming Eric Musselman’s third addition for the Class of 2020. Williams chose the Hogs over co-finalist Auburn, but also held offers from Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, UCONN, Illinois, TCU and several others. The Natural State native made an unofficial visit in Fayetteville on November 5 and then returned to the Hill for another visit just four days later. On Nov. 14, Williams officially trimmed his list to the final two schools and set his announcement date. Gameday Live: Arkansas vs Portland State

The  Arkansas Razorbacks , coming off a 2-10 season, open 2019 on Saturday with a game vs. Portland State, 4-7 in 2018. It is the first ever meeting between the two teams. While Portland State has beaten FBS teams in the past, in 2015 they beat Washington State and North Texas (66-7!), they are two years removed from a winless season. Arkansas is 13-1 in their last 14 openers, with the lone loss coming to Auburn in 2014. Expect for a game that won’t be very close. We should get a chance to see both  Ben Hicks  and  Nick Starkel  get playing time as well as a lot of the freshman. This should be a tune up for the Ole Miss game next week.
