4-star Duncan Powell commits to Arkansas

DeSoto (Texas) four-star  Duncan Powell  has committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Powell, a 6-8, 200-pound forward in the 2021 recruiting class, announced his decision at approximately 7 p.m. on Thursday, choosing the Hogs over Ole Miss, TCU, SMU and others. He is the first high school commitment for first-year Arkansas head coach Eric Musselman, and the Razorbacks' first pledge for the Class of 2021. "First, I would like to thank God for allowing me to be in this position," Duncan said in a tweet. "My parents & family for supporting me and believing in me and my abilities as a person and athlete. Secondly I would like to thank The Desoto Coaching staff, Coach Dyer, Coach G & Coach James for helping guide me along the way and never allowing me to not be the greatest I could. FanPulse Poll is Out, and Confidence in Arkansas’ Direction is at an All Time Low

Image
All sharing options I hope everyone is having a decent Monday recovery from a depressing weekend. SB Nation’s FanPulse poll has come out, and guess what? Arkansas isn’t in the top 25! We measured confidence in the program, and will speak on that in just a moment, but for now, UCF and Michigan took some big hits (probably deservedly so), while Clemson remains number one. It’s hard to look at Clemson and see them roll over teams knowing that our coach was supposedly a part of the minds that made that happen while we get destroyed by San Jose State. Not ideal. Either way, here’s the main poll: Now for the good stuff. As detailed last week, Arkansas has had a strange season when it comes to confidence in program direction. We’ve gone from 64.7% saying yes they were confident to 30% to 78.6%. The results after the San Jose State game are in, and well... That is a zero. 0% of the respondents to our survey are confident in the program’s direction, and I can’t say I blame them.

Hogs humiliated at home by San Jose State, 31-24

Its getting really old discussing which Razorback defeat marks the worst loss in school history, but we have yet another candidate following another humiliation in Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium...this time at the hands of the San Jose State Spartans by a score of 31-24. Arkansas waited until after halftime to even kind of show up (if you want to call it that). Arkansas coach  Chad Morris  said after the game that he was concerned with the pregame as the players, "W ere a little too loose." He added that, "I thought we were a little too giddy, and I made comment of that ." Arkansas tied the game 24-24 after falling behind 24-7 at the break, and there was a sense from those still in attendance that Arkansas might actually pull it out after all that. Nope. "His guys out-played us, they out coached us, and was very disappointed in the effort we showed tonight," Morris said after the game. "Everyone's going to be held accountable, from me

Does well-traveled Eric Musselman have the right formula at Arkansas?

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- "The Twins won again?" It's just past 6 a.m. on an offseason Tuesday. There are only two other people in the basketball weight room, but new  Arkansas Razorbacks  coach Eric Musselman -- speaking from the treadmill in one corner of the room -- is already in midday form. ADVERTISEMENT He's shuffling through newspapers and printed-out pages during his workout, tossing them on the floor when he's finished reading. On this morning, Musselman is intrigued by a story about first-year Twins manager Rocco Baldelli. Baldelli has the Twins atop the American League Central -- and he's doing it in a unique way. He gives his players more off-days. There was a "nap room" added to Target Field. He makes batting practice optional. Musselman is riveted, and he isn't even a Twins fan.
