Arkansas at Mississippi State - College Football Picks & Predictions Week 6 Saturday 10/3/20

The Mississippi State Bulldogs kicked off their season with a huge road win over the defending champion LSU Tigers by a final score of 44-34 win in their last game. K.J. Costello threw for 623 yards, 5 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on 36 of 60 passing while Kylin Hill rushed for a team-high 34 rushing yards. Hill also had 8 receptions for 158 yards and a touchdown while Osirus Mitchell has a team-high 163 receiving yards with 7 catches and a pair of touchdowns. Javonta Payton had 127 receiving yards on 6 catches while Tyrell Shavers had 68 receiving yards with a TD and Austin Williams had 57 receiving yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Shawn Preston Jr. had a team-high 11 tackles while Aaron Brule and Erroll Thompson each had 10 total tackles with a sack as well. Marquiss Spencer also bad a pair of sacks while Esaias Furdge and Emmenauel Forbes each had an interception as well.

Trends will be updated once they’ve been released.

Arkansas looked solid defensively for a good chunk of that game against Georgia but the offense was also non-existent and just couldn’t get anything going. Mississippi State could be prime for a letdown after such an emotional and big-time win, but the offense looked fantastic under Mike Leach with K.J. Costello leading the charge and looking like the perfect QB to lead that offense. I think if form carries over from game one, this is a beatdown from the opening kickoff, so I’ll lay the points with Mississippi State in this one.
