Gameday Live Arkansas vs Valparaiso

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/game?gameId=401169903 The Razorbacks will play Valparaiso on Saturday night at Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock. The Hogs have gone 9-1 this season, and they won their latest contest against Tulsa last Saturday, 98-79. Razorback guard  Mason Jones  dropped a career-high 41 points against the Golden Hurricane, making, 12 of his 18 shots from the floor. Arkansas was coming off its first loss of the year to Western Kentucky, 86-79, on the road after an overtime period. “I said it the other day, my wife and I and I have been talking about just the uniqueness,” Razorback head coach  Eric Musselman  said. “Even though we know it’s a neutral site game so to speak on the schedule, there’s going to be a lot of Hogs fans there obviously. So we’re excited. It’s unique. Not many programs get a chance to play in a different place in your state in a regular-season game. So, I think it’s cool and unique. We’re all looking f...

Early Signing Period

So far we have signed the three Ark defensive players,   Jonesboro defensive end/outside linebacker   Jashaud Stewart , 6-2, 223, Hazen defensive end   Blayne Toll , 6-5, 244, and Bryant outside linebacker   Catrell Wallace , 6-5, 210. We flipped  Kelin Burrle    Outside Linebacker, and two Missouri commits  Dominique Johnson    Running Back and   Ray Curry Jr. Offensive Tackle 4* WR Darin Turner to decide tomorrow.

QB for the future

Now that Starkel has relieved us of his talents the QB position is wide open.  There are a lot of QBs in the transfer portal, but will we sign one?  Sam has stated he likes the RPO game which would bode well for KJ.  If we don't sign a transfer it would seem the job is his.  Being a first year coach Sam will sort of get a pass his first year.   Just beat the out of conf games which includes Notre Dame. Also will we flip Criswell?  Probably depends on who gets the OC job.  Noted that Criswell is being pursued by auburn and not chandler morris.  Wonder how much of an impact Dancing Chad will really have or will he just be a "token" OC just cause Gus felt sorry for him. Another aspect is how much will we upgrade the oline during the early signing period coming up this week.  We'll soon see how hard Sam really worked during this two week period.

Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek fed up with high buyouts, explains how Sam Pittman's buyout will work

When college football coaches get fired, they’re still typically getting a big payday from their contract buyout. Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek isn’t a fan of that, and he made that clear during a press conference on Monday that followed the introduction of Sam Pittman as the Razorbacks’ new head coach. 2 “I said from Day One at my press conference that I don’t think we should pay a full buyout to coaches who aren’t successful at the job we hire them for,” Yurachek told the media. “We’ve got to stop in this industry these huge buyouts.” That’s why Pittman’s contract with the Razorbacks will be different. If Arkansas were to fire Pittman after it lost more than half its games, Pittman would only receive 50 percent of his remaining salary. If it came after it won more than half its games, he would receive 75 percent. Yurachek also stated at his press conference that Pittman was on board with the team-friendly contract, noting that the new Arkansas head coach is old sc...

Sam Pittman officially announced as head coach at Arkansas

Image
The Razorbacks have officially hired Georgia offensive line coach   Sam Pittman   as their head coach.  Sources told HawgSports' Trey Biddy that he first reached out three weeks ago about the position, and after a long search, he became the answer for the Razorbacks.  Arkansas athletic director  Hunter Yurachek  Tweeted out a video of him and Pittman late on Sunday afternoon, introducing the 58-year-old as the head coach. “Sam Pittman has been an integral part of successful teams that have competed at the highest levels, including for SEC and NCAA Championships,” Yurachek stated in a release from the University of Arkansas. “As one of the nation’s premier offensive line coaches, he has built a remarkable body of work thanks to his tremendous passion for his student-athletes, including teaching the fundamentals and developing his players on and off the field. Sam instills in his players the motivation, grit and determination required to compete and win....

Sam Pittman to be named head coach at Arkansas

Georgia offensive line coach and associate head coach  Sam Pittman  will be the next head coach at the University of Arkansas, according to strong sources. Pittman has all but signed the deal. Pittman, 58, is one of the highest paid assistant coaches in the nation at $900,000 a year. Sources say he first reached out three weeks ago about the position, and after a long search, he became the answer for the Razorbacks. He was the offensive line coach at Arkansas under former head coach  Bret Bielema  from 20013-15 and has always expressed a love for Fayetteville behind the scenes. During that time, Arkansas brought in some of the biggest offensive line recruits in program history, beating out blue blood programs from several states away for players like  Denver Kirkland ,  Frank Ragnow ,  Dan Skipper  and several others. Since 2013, eight  Sam Pittman  players have been drafted into the NFL, including two first-rounders. Alabama came aft...

Gameday Live: Arkansas vs Austin Peay

The Razorbacks will play Austin Peay on Tuesday night inside Bud Walton Arena, and they may be without their leading scorer for the second game in a row. Junior guard  Mason Jones  missed Arkansas’ latest game against Northern Kentucky. The Hogs managed to outlast the Norse, 66-60, but the scoring didn’t come easy. The Razorbacks only shot 41.8 percent from the field. In six games this season, Jones is averaging a team-high 18.5 points per game. Additionally, the DeSoto (Texas) native leads the team with 16 steals and is bringing down 5.7 boards per game. “Mason, we got together this morning between his classes. He’s going to try to practice today,” Razorback head coach  Eric Musselman  said Monday. “Probably not do any contact stuff. Right now, it’s not bothering him shooting. It’s bothering him a defensively a little bit when he puts his arm a certain way. The good thing is if he plays we need his shooting more than we need his defense. So, I think it will be ...
