Chad Morris updates Arkansas injury situation

Arkansas tight end Cheyenne 'CJ' O'Grady went down with a knee injury in Tuesday's practice and is having surgery Wednesday. Head coach Chad Morris addressed that injury and a number of others following Wednesday's practice, the 11th of fall camp.
O'Grady went up for a jump ball in the end zone Tuesday and got his legs tangled up on the way down and was on the ground for a while but was able to walk off on his own. Morris called the injury a knee sprain, which can mean anything from a stretched ligament to a meniscal tear. Obviously O'Grady wouldn't be having surgery if it was something really minor, and they are going in to 'clean it up,' but he is expected to be back quickly. Arkansas' first game is 17 days away against Portland State.
"CJ should be back in about two weeks we’re anticipating. He had just a knee sprain," Morris said. "I think yesterday, actually the last couple of days, he’s been running back with the [first group]. He’s responded fine. I think that’s been the biggest thing that we’ve seen. We felt like he would, so he responded, and I think he got caught up in a 1-on-1 situation out there and got his legs tangled up and that’s kind of what happened there. He’ll be back, he’ll be ready to go, he’ll be better than ever.
"We would probably open up with [Grayson Gunter], Grayson right now. But again, he may get the first play and [Chase Harrell] in for the second play. Probably a lot depends on the play."
AUSTIN CAPPS
Starting left guard Austin Capps suffered a similar injury as O'Grady, and they are also going in to clean up cornerback Britto Tutt's oft-injured knee.
"It’s going in and cleaning it up. They should be back in a couple of weeks is what they’re telling us," Morris said. "ustin Capps, same thing. Something that had been bothering him a little bit. He should be back by the first game."
COLTON JACKSON
Starting left tackle Colton Jackson was in a yellow jersey on Wednesday (which means they only work on the sidelines).
"Colton Jackson was in yellow today, just from a rest standpoint from a foot injury that he’s had. But we just pulled him back today," Morris said. "We were able to move Myron Cunningham back to left tackle and [Kirby Adcock] was in as well as Dalton Wagner. So those guys were getting some first-team reps in there. And [Shane Clenin] back at right tackle, right guard."
Morris said Adcock was getting first team reps at right tackle.
KOILAN JACKSON
Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Koilan Jackson tore his ACL as a true freshman as the 2017 season was getting underway. He followed him into the 2018 season and is still giving him issues.
"Koilan may be three-and-a-half weeks or so, it’s a recurring injury, from the same knee," Morris said. "He’ll be fine. Just going in and cleaning a few things up. So we should get him back as well. We opted to go ahead and do all three of these now to keep them from lingering - where we’re at in fall camp, especially with all these other guys behind them getting reps."
T.J. HAMMONDS
Junior running back T.J. Hammonds has missed the past three days while going through concussion protocol. Hudson Henry was in the same boat but practiced in full Wednesday.
"We expect T.J. back any day. It was a concussion. But we expect him back. Nothing that we hadn’t already been through his protocol," Morris said.
GREG BROOKS JR.
Freshman starting nickel Greg Brooks Jr. has missed some time and had a soft cast on his right arm up to his thumb.
"Greg hyperextended his thumb. He’s back out there. We’d kept him out, I believe it was Monday and Tuesday. He got a little bit of work yesterday. He was in green today," Morris said.
JARQUES McCLELLION & KAMREN CURL
Starting left cornerback Jarques McClellion has been in a green jersey the past couple of days with an undisclosed injury, but it appears to be nothing too serious. Starting strong safety Kamren Curlhad been in green but was practiced in full on Wednesday.
"Pac-Man [McCellion] is great. He had an interception right here in the two-minute drill today. He was in green today. A lot of it is precautionary and making sure they understand that when you’re in a green jersey you’re not hitting and nobody’s hitting you. But he’s getting some good work in," Morris said.
ERIC GREGORY
Freshman defensive end Eric Gregory has missed the last seven practices with a foot injury, but there was no specific update on him.
NOAH GATLIN
So far, Noah Gatlin is the only player who has been lost for the season (torn ACL0.
"Outside of that, that’s where we’re at," Morris said. "You’re this far into fall camp. You’ve got 10 practices in, 11 practices today. It’s getting a lot of reps and guys are getting better. I’m excited to get back out there tomorrow a little bit. We’ll have some live situations tomorrow that we’ll go through."
